Testimonials

Here are testimonials from our current parents (January 2016)

“The standard of teaching at the Sandra Powell School of Dance is excellent and both my daughters have benefited from it and achieved well as a result. Aside from dancing, they have also made good friends with fellow classmates and the girls all support and encourage one another”.

Carol, daughters aged 11 and 13 years

“The Sandra Powell School of Dance has given my daughter a huge passion and joy for dance.  With a meticulous focus on the core principles of ballet she has built strength, flexibility and co-ordination and is a flourishing young dancer who loves to express herself in dance.  She has had the opportunity to participate in many events and competitions and won the Southern Area Awards and the Cecchetti Children’s Award.  The three things that mean the most to me as a parent are at the centre of the teaching here; the children’s well being; excellence and enjoyment.”

Donna, daughter aged 11

“My daughter has always had a love of dance and expression to music from a very early age. Having been a pupil of various dance schools in the area, and having to change to fit in a busy timetable, we transferred to the Sandra Powell School of Dancing. Since being a pupil here my daughter has enjoyed the unique style of Cecchetti, joining their Associates Programme, attending Summer Residential School and competing in the Cecchetti national competition where she was awarded two commendations from three entries. All these events a young dancer’s dream. Sandra Powell has given her detailed coaching and instruction together with a wealth of experience and knowledge. We are very grateful for Miss Powell’s determination and commitment to her dancers and long may it continue.”

Jacky, daughter aged 15

“As a former pupil of Sandra Powell School of Dancing myself, it was the only ballet school I would consider sending my children to in this area. I attended from the age of 3 until 16 years of age, and although I didn’t go on to be a ballet dancer I feel it has given me good posture and a love of dance.  My daughter has been at the school since she was 3 years old and my son started when he was 7 years old. He has been to the Royal Ballet school in Covent Garden for a boy’s ballet workshop which he really enjoyed. For him it was the chance to dance with like-minded boys who have the same passion for dance as he does.”

Susie, daughter aged 11 and son aged 8

“I think it’s important for children to take part in a range of different activities, and for me ballet is a great combination of exercises which develop strength and poise and give an opportunity to be expressive through dance. The standard of teaching is very high and my son has loved his first two years of ballet here.

Katherine, son aged 5.
